How to get to San Miguel de Allende (SMA)

The easiest way to get to SMA is through Leon (BJX) and Queretaro (QRO). To get to and San Miguel from either airport, the shuttle service, Bajiogo, is excellent.  Their website, bajiogoshuttle.com, allows you to book online.  You can also call them on their U.S. phone number,  (202)  609 - 9905.

You will need your flight number, time of arrival and the address of where you are staying.  When you arrive at the airport, after going through customs, a driver will meet you near the doors with a sign with your name on it.  It is not necessary to pay online; the driver will accept U.S. dollars or pesos.  The fee is around $30.00 each way.  They will deliver you directly to Hacienda de las Flores.

You can also fly to Mexico City and have a BajioGo shuttle pick you up and take you back.  The fee is between $80 and $150 each way, depending on if you are traveling alone or if they can match you with other riders.

For those of you who are a bit more adventurous, you can take a bus from the Mexico City airport to Queretaro.  And from there take a taxi (Or UBER) from Queretaro to San Miguel.  OR......from the Mexico City airport you can take a taxi to the Mexico City Norte bus station and then from there take a direct bus to San Miguel.  In total, the time to travel from Mexico City to SMA is between 3 1/2 hours to 4 1/2 hours...depending on if you go through Queretaro or Mexico Norte Station.

Finally, many people travel through Tijuana by flying to San Diego and then getting to the border crossing.  This is safe and efficient--I've done this route as have many of my friends.  There is a bus from the San Diego airport to the border crossing/Tijuana airport.  The airline that flies from Tijuana to Leon is called Volaris.
